Summary Information About Isparta

Isparta Province is a province in southwestern Turkey. Its adjacent provinces are Afyon to the northwest, Burdur to the southwest, Antalya to the south, and Konya to the east. It has an area of 8,993 km2. The provincial capital is Isparta, known as the “City of Roses”

 

The province is well known for its apples, sour cherries, grapes, roses and rose products, and carpets. The best fertile lands are in the area named Uluborlu. The province is situated in the Göller Bölgesi (Lakes Area) of Turkey’s Mediterranean Region and has many freshwater lakes.

Isparta city is well-connected to other parts of Turkey via roads. Antalya lies 130 km to the south and Eskişehir is 350 km to the north.

 

Süleyman Demirel University has introduced thousands of youths from varied backgrounds to the city’s mostly conservative fabric in recent years. The city’s football team, Ispartaspor, plays in Group 7 of the Turkish Regional Amateur League.

In 2020, the ancient 10 meters height rock mass of symbolic importance, which was in a village in Yalvaç district, was blown by treasure hunters.

 

Lavender fragrant village:  Lavender, which is grown on 5000 decares in Kuyucak Village, begins to bloom at the beginning of July, even if seasonal conditions such as temperature and precipitation affect it. Harvest work continues from the end of July to the middle of August.

 

Davraz Mountain-Karlıyayla Winter Sports Tourism Center is located 26 km southeast of Isparta city center. It was declared as a Tourism Center on 17.02.1995. It is 8 km from Çobanisa Village, which is the nearest settlement. The Ski Center is located on the northern slope of Davraz Mountain in Kulovası Plateau. The dominant vegetation consists of pine, juniper, cedar and herbaceous plants.
